Top Shelf (TvOS)

The Apple TV Home Screen provides an area called Top Shelf, which showcases your content in a rich, engaging way. Top Shelf is a unique opportunity to highlight new, featured, or recommended content and let people jump directly to your app.

Types of Top Shelf Content:

  • Static Content: Displays a static image that doesn’t change, typically a promotional image or banner.
  • Dynamic Content: Displays dynamic content like videos, images, or a grid of items that can be selected and navigated.

1. Static Top Shelf Implementation

  1. Create the Top Shelf Image:
  • You need to prepare the static image asset (Top Shelf Image) for your app. The image resolution should be:
  • 1920 x 720 px for a wide image.
  • 3840 x 1440 px for a 2x resolution image.

2. Configure the Top Shelf Image in Xcode:

  • In Xcode, go to your Assets.xcassets file.
  • Right-click and choose New Image Set, then name it Top Shelf Image.
  • Add your static image assets in the corresponding fields for both 1x and 2x sizes.

3. Update the Info.plist:
